The application of digital technology to power control is one of the most important changes in the power industry. In this era when energy saving and emission reduction have become the general trend, power supply applications are required to have higher efficiency and stricter specifications. Compared with traditional power supplies, it is difficult to meet certain specifications due to hardware limitations. Digital power supplies have more advantages. The digital power solution launched by Dalian University based on ST products can realize digital power factor correction (PFC) through the inrush current limiter (ICL Inrush Current Limiter).

STEVAL-DPSTPFC1 is a 3.6kW bridgeless totem pole boost circuit, which is equipped with a silicon carbide MOSFET (SCTW35N65G2V), a thyristor SCR (TN3050H-12WY), an isolated FET driver (STGAP2S) and a 32-bit MCU (STM32F334) to achieve The innovative topology design can be widely used in battery chargers, EV on-board charging, UPS and industrial chargers, SMPS in industry, and data center and telecom environments.

This solution supports compact converters operating at 72kHz with peak efficiencies as high as 97.5% and total harmonic distortion as low as 3.7%. In addition, the STEVAL-DPSTPFC1 features robust circuits up to 4kV EMC compliance with long switching life and low EMI emissions. This thyristor SCR acts as an AC line polarity switch, enabling active current limiting at power-up or line drop recovery. And the PFC efficiency is excellent, and there is no EMI bounce effect.
