Google's game streaming service is now officially available on Android TV and Google TV devices including Chromecast, Nvidia Shield, Hisense, Philips, and Xiaomi.
Stadia on TVGoogle Stadia has arrived on TVs and media boxes ahead of Microsoft's upcoming Xbox app, but it still took Google 18 months to bring its own game streaming service to the Android-powered TV devices. Google started rolling out the Stadia app earlier this week and it is now functional.
Curiously, Stadia is not officially supported on Sony Android TVs and Sony Google TVs, according to Google. While Sony may be Google's biggest TV partner, Sony has this little thing called PlayStation including its own competing game streaming service, PlayStation Now. Stadia is, on the other hand, officially supported on Nvidia Shield, which also offers Nvidia's game streaming service, GeForce Now. And even with an unsupported device you can opt in to try Stadia. - Stadia is now working on Nvidia Shield, Chromecast and other devices. While this feature is still in development and not every Android TV OS device will work perfectly, you can now try out Stadia and play your favorite games on more screens than ever before," said Google. Stadia is scheduled to also arrive on 2020 and 2021 LG TVs (webOS 5.5 and webOS 6.0) in the second half of the year.

How to get startedTo get started you need the Stadia Controller or a compatible Bluetooth controller like a PlayStation or Xbox controller. A few games are included with a Stadia Pro subscription plan but most games on Stadia are individual purchases. A $10 per month Pro subscription plan is required to enjoy 4K60, HDR and 5.1 surround. The Stadia app for Android TV and Google TV can be downloaded directly on your Android TV device from the app store. Alternatively, it can be installed on your TV from this Google Play page.
